Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and Jeanne Bankson ("we", "us") for the use of the Storylight Quest app (the "App"). By downloading or using the App you agree to them. If you are a parent or guardian letting a child use the App, you agree to them on the child's behalf.
1. License
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to install and use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms. The App, its stories, questions, artwork, narration, and design are ours or our licensors' and are protected by copyright. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or reverse-engineer the App or extract its content.
2. Free content and purchases
Part of the App is free. Additional content, such as the Full Quest, is sold as an in-app purchase through Apple's App Store. Prices are shown in the App before you buy. Purchases are billed to your Apple ID and are subject to Apple's terms. A one-time purchase does not expire and can be restored on any device signed in with the same Apple ID, or a member of the same Family Sharing group, using Restore purchases in the App.
Refund requests are handled by Apple, not by us. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
3. Subscriptions
The App does not currently offer subscriptions. If one is added in the future, it will be clearly described in the App before purchase, including price, billing period, and what it includes. Any subscription would renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and could be managed or cancelled in your Apple ID account settings.
4. Family use and the grown-ups check
The App is designed for families. Purchases, external links, and progress reset are placed behind a grown-ups check. That check is a safeguard, not a substitute for supervision. You are responsible for purchases made on your Apple ID, including through Family Sharing and Ask to Buy.
5. Your data
The App does not collect personal information. Player profiles and progress are stored only on your device. Our Privacy Policy explains this in full and forms part of these terms.
6. Content and attributions
- Scripture quotations marked BSB are from the Berean Standard Bible, produced in cooperation with Bible Hub, Discovery Bible, OpenBible.com, and the Berean Bible Translation Committee. Public domain.
- Scripture quotations marked KJV are from The Authorized (King James) Version. Rights in the Authorized Version in the United Kingdom are vested in the Crown.
- Story retellings and questions are written for the App and are not a Bible translation. They are offered for family enjoyment and learning, and we do not warrant that they are complete or free of error.
- Narration is voiced with the Kokoro-82M speech model, used under the Apache 2.0 license.
- The Montserrat typeface is used under the SIL Open Font License.
- Card artwork from the Storylight 100-card collection is our copyright.
7. Acceptable use
Use the App only as intended and in compliance with applicable law. Do not attempt to bypass purchases, the grown-ups check, or any technical protection in the App.
8. Updates and availability
We may update the App to add, change, or remove features and content, and may stop offering it altogether. We will try to give notice of significant changes through the App Store release notes. Content you have purchased will remain available in the App for as long as the App is supported on your device.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
11. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App and is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You represent that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited parties. Where the App Store's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement gives you more protection than these terms, that agreement applies.
12. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms. The current version is always at this address with its effective date. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the revised terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these terms limits any consumer rights you have under the law of the place where you live.
